Why Mission is best for pitchers
1. We support what it takes
Every Mission pitcher will be told what it takes to meet their goals as a pitcher. An actual list! Mission will supply the resources for them to do what it takes.
2. Year-round Instruction
Each Mission pitcher is provided year-round instruction to assist them their development. This begins in the Fall, continues through Winter (with some appropriate breaks to rest) and through the Summer season as well. The frequency is every other week in the Fall and Summer and every week during the Winter season.
3. Pitching ‘Labs’
In addition to elite pitching instruction, Mission offers a second weekly pitching training option - Pitching Labs. Labs will vary each week, but will be a combination of time spent with our Rapsodo pitch design tool and Super-slow-motion Insight camera which will sync video and data to your own online profile available to yourself and pitching coaches for review. In addition, pitchers will conduct a workout built to add stamina and speed to their game.
4. Whitney Johnson
Whitney is one of the most sought-after pitching instructors in the Midwest. She is the director of pitching at Mission and has worked with our pitchers for several years. Whitney will not only provide training at Mission for our pitchers, Mission has secured set times for our pitchers to book with Whitney for individual instruction - ahead of pitchers from other clubs.
5. Mission Training Center
Mission pitchers have access to use Mission Training Center to workout or pitch year-round. Whenever there is open time on the calendar you can feel free to come use the space to throw.
6. Rapsodo Pitch Analysis and Insight Camera
Each pitcher will receive a Rapsodo profile and sessions to capture information such as the amount of spin on movement pitches, the direction of the spin, how much movement is happening, speed, location and more. This data will be synced to our Rapsodo Team Management account where every pitcher’s historical data can be viewed and compared against others in their similar age-range.
7. Rapsodo Insight Camera
The Rapsodo Insight camera will capture super-slow-motion video to show the pitcher and her instructors exactly what is happening with her motion and the ball spin and flight.
8. Tools
We’ve got weighted balls, Queen of the Hill, Bownet’s pitching training balls, plates, pocket nets, stand-in dummies, pitching mounds, bands and anything else our pitchers or instructors need for training.
9. Focus on Defense
Mission has a sharp focus on training up our teams to be strong defensive teams. Nothing supports a pitcher more than a defense that finds outs!
10. Ideal pitching staff size of 3
We work to get our pitchers on the rubber throwing for their team. We don’t hoard several pitchers for a team just to not let them pitch. We found 3 pitchers provides the right balance of competition and coverage in case of an injury.
